These are the true black and white tegus aka big headed
tegus. Merianae tegus are capable of growing quite large but are generally very
docile and usually grow to become tame adults when raised indoors . This page

All Tupinambis merianae can be easily distinguished from the black and
white tegu originating from Colombia by the coarse beaded scales on back of the
neck in adults and their larger adult size.
